Garden of Witches Maydel — Swamp Witch

Maydel is the Swamp Witch. She is the reason Epilogue 1 exists, and she is the reason a lot of Early Access players thought the game was over. Version 1.0 is blunt: her swamp is chapter extra, not credits. Epilogues 2 and 3 continue the gathering. Challenge Mode waits until after Epilogue 3.

Team Tapas’ own note for 0.8.0 is the lore in one paragraph. Nahatra’s growth caused side effects that shook the Garden. To stabilize it, Sil has to help Maydel solve a problem and invite her to the tea party. The swamp will not be friendly. That is the whole brief. You do not need a wiki to tell you she is sad. You need a wiki to tell you the map is a different sport from Fiena’s greenhouse.

What the swamp actually is

Unlike chapters 1–5, Epilogue 1 is a single map. Waves of enemies, then a mid-boss, then more waves. A timer pays for kills. The main boss at the end assumes you finished a build on the way. If you walk in with chapter-one Default Scissors and no plan, the clock will grade you.

The video on this page is a real Singing Scissors run in the swamp. Use it for the weapon’s ranged hold and for how a complete kit looks when the map is full. Do not copy a 0.9.2 tag-synergy overlay. 1.0 deleted that grid. Rebuild the feeling with imprints and the scissors tier list.

Singing Scissors

After you help Maydel, she gifts Singing Scissors. When activated they perform ranged attacks for a set duration. That is a different identity from Giant (plant, Sharpness, dump) and from Magic (Charge, pierce). Singing wants:

• Duration or projectile talk in Relics
• A Spell that does not fight the hold (Counter is a panic, not a second channel)
• Room to stand. If you cannot see the floor, you cannot aim the cone.

Older patch notes moved Singing’s crit stack requirement and burn rate. Read the live tooltip. This page will not freeze a March 2026 number as gospel. The best builds swamp-AoE row is the canned sentence if you do not want to invent one.

Maydel’s Gift — the domain button

In Maydel’s swamp a special ability powered by Maydel becomes available on a new action button. It enhances Sil in that domain only. Early Access special skills each had unique gauge rules; 0.9.2 standardized gauge recovery so imprints could do the personality work. Treat the swamp button as a map buff, not a third Spell you take into Abigail’s farm.

If the tooltip feels vague, skip it until the waves make the effect obvious. A gauge you do not understand is a cooldown you will press at the wrong mid-boss.

How she fights (without spoiling the last bar)

Maydel is a horde chapter with a named witch at the end. The mid-bosses teach the same lesson Fiena started: dash on the wind-up, do not dump a Charge into a phase. The last bar will have more floor. Fountain heals on the way in are still a mechanic. Twenty HP is a full extra mistake. An extra 8% damage is not.

AoE beats a slow sniper on the clock. Magic Scissors can still work if Downpour or Threading turns the hold into a hallway cleaner. Giant plus Ambush works if you only plant for the dump. Mixed kits with no imprint stall at the last mid-boss and then blame the timer.

Where she sits in the coven

• Not a chapter-one teacher. That is Fiena.
• Not the Dream Witch. That is Nahatra. The swamp exists because Nahatra’s dream leaked.
• Not the 1.0 ending. Epilogues 2 and 3 are the close. Maydel is the first extra witch after the five-chapter spine.

Japanese voice-over in 1.0 covers the main story through chapter five. Epilogue voice is not promised in the same sentence. Play the portraits anyway. The swamp jazz is half the reason the map is a single space.

After she sits down, take Singing Scissors back to the cottage, park them in the Armory, and decide whether they are your personality or a souvenir. Then open the epilogues guide and keep gathering. The tea party is still short one table if you stop at the swamp.
