Garden of Witches Scissors Tier List
Each pair now has its own crit rule. Stop treating them as skins of the same combo.
Sil’s weapon is always scissors. The joke is in the size; the build is in which pair you took from the Armory. Version 1.0 stopped sharing one universal crit card across the whole rack. If your muscle memory is “hit twice, third hit crits” on every weapon, you are playing last year’s game.
This list ranks identity for story clears and Challenge Mode, not a lab DPS sheet. Pair it with imprints and best builds. Unlock order still exists: you start with the house pair and earn the rest by walking chapters and epilogues.
S — Giant Scissors
Giant Scissors are the poster weapon. They hit like a door. The 1.0 crit lives on the combo finisher with a dedicated animation. Sharpness still matters; older Giant kits loved Ambush because Ambush prints Sharpness and Giant wanted a huge swing after the bar was fat.
Play them if: you like being close, you will actually finish strings, and you have a Spell that either feeds Sharpness or clears the trash Giant does not want to chase.
Avoid them if: the boss is a floor-fire exam and you refuse to drop a string. Giant players die in animations, not in HP math.
Challenge Mode clips from 2025 that show 100k Slash dumps still start here. Rebuild the dump with a 1.0 imprint instead of a tag cap. See Challenge Mode.
S — Magic Scissors
Magic Scissors are the mouse-aim weapon Team Tapas owed the community. Charge, then fire a volley of piercing shots. Past the first gauge they can guaranteed-crit. Imprints split the fantasy: Threading cuts damage but extra-tracks, Downpour adds a projectile at high Charge.
Play them if: you bound keyboard and mouse, you like holding a button, and the room is a hallway of bodies (Rims & Berry, swamp waves).
Avoid them if: you are on keyboard-only facing and you keep releasing Charge early. Magic Scissors without Charge is a sad pellet.
Relic partner: Blue Chakram (Spell Rampage on Magic Scissors crits) if you are also a Spell character. The relics page lists the loud ones.
A — Default Scissors
The house pair. Combo-finisher crit, honest range, no gimmick. Chapter one should be played with these until Giant or Magic is a choice rather than a loot accident. They teach you that Sil plants her feet. If that sentence makes you angry, you will hate every melee pair and you should main Magic.
Play them if: you are learning, or you want a blank canvas for imprint experiments.
Avoid them if: you already own Giant and you are heading to Nahatra. Default is not bad; it is just the tutorial identity.
A — Broken Scissors
Broken Scissors are the Sharpness crit engine. At 100% Sharpness, every hit crits. Imprints lean mean: Hunger doubles the Sharpness cap and dumps the bar if you go two seconds without a gain. Frenzy converts Sharpness into attack speed.
Play them if: you have Ambush, Cat’s Eye Ring, or any other Sharpness tap, and you enjoy living on a timer.
Avoid them if: you dash more than you swing. Hunger will rob you mid-boss for sightseeing.
B — Singing Scissors
Maydel’s gift after Epilogue 1. They are a new weapon, not a palette swap, and they have swamp-only tricks in some descriptions of the chapter. Do not take them into chapter two on a first save file; you do not own them yet.
Play them if: you cleared the swamp and you like the kit’s unique cadence (it is closer to a rhythm / special-gauge toy than Giant’s door slam).
Avoid them if: you are still unlocking Armory slots. Story scissors first, concert scissors later.
How to actually rank them in your house
- Clear Fiena with default or Giant.
- Try Magic Scissors the moment mouse aiming feels good — see controls.
- Slot Broken Scissors when you have a Sharpness plan, not before.
- Park Singing Scissors on a dedicated Maydel / Challenge file.
Scissors are half a build. The other half is which two Spells you refused to leave behind. Go to spells next, then let imprints rewrite whichever pair you picked. If you want a finished sentence, skip the menu and open best builds.
Weapon stats move in patches. When Steam news retunes Attack SPD or CRT stack requirements, the updates hub is the correction log. This tier list stays about identities so a hotfix cannot make the whole page a lie overnight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Garden of Witches 1.0.
Which scissors should I use in Garden of Witches 1.0?
Giant Scissors for melee identity, Magic Scissors for Charge poke, default while learning. Rankings are on this page; kits are on best builds.
How do Giant Scissors crit after the overhaul?
On the combo finisher, with a unique animation. They no longer share a universal crit card with every other pair.
When do I unlock Singing Scissors?
After helping Maydel in Epilogue 1. See the walkthrough.
Are Broken Scissors a meme?
No. At 100% Sharpness every hit crits. Hunger and Frenzy imprints make that a real Challenge plan if you never drop the bar.
